Winter 1963: Cribbage Tournament

There were no outside on deck recreational things to do while conducting deep ocean surveys in the cold, dark winter days and nights on the Norwegian Sea. Within the steam heated living spaces the Navy detachment had movies every night and a lounge for reading and card games when not on watch or at work.

As reported in the March 1963 issue of Michelson's Atlantic Voyageur, a cribbage tournament was organized, with twelve cribbage lovers and newcomers playing.  Two of the detachment's officers along with enlisted men, oceanographers and civilian tech reps participated.
