Bayonne 1964: Some Photos

Yes, the Navy wouldn't be the Navy without inspections! Here we see some of the enlisted members of Oceanographic Detachment Three formed up on the starboard side next to number three hatch cover. Some sailors look kind of awkward when standing at attention.

I think that the inspecting officer was a new CO of MSTS Atlantic. This view is looking forward on the starboard side.

On the south side of the very long pier at the Navy Supply Center, Bayonne. Tied up forward of USNS Michelson (right) was one of the MSTS two stack luxury liners, a/k/a troopships. From left; John Hansen, Joe Herrington, Larry Ortt, Jerry Hayes, (unknown), Howard Curdo and Ray Tullos. The above three photos furnished by Marty Rombach.
