Welcome aboard survey ship USNS Michelson (T-AGS-23). For 17 years (1958-75) Michelson collected data about the earth's oceans and created navigational charts. Joliet Victory in Lloyd's Register
Here is Lloyd's (of London) Register entry for the steam turbine powered Joliet Victory, built in 1944 by Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation for the US War Shipping Administration. In 1958 it went into service as USNS Michelson (TAGS-23), an oceanographic survey ship.
